Mini LED technology uses a larger number of smaller light sources behind the LCD panel. These LEDs can be organized into local dimming zones, allowing the television to reduce light in dark areas while preserving brightness in highlights. The visible benefit is stronger contrast and better separation between bright and dark picture detail.

Zone count alone does not determine picture quality. Dimming algorithms, panel characteristics, processing, thermal design and calibration all influence how smoothly the television moves between dark and bright scenes.
